Connections Looking Through the Lens – Mural
Gympie RSL has unveiled a new 24-metre-long mural on Sunday 18th August, coinciding with Vietnam Veteran’s Day commemorations.
Titled ‘Connections – Looking through the Lens’, the new installation has brought the previously blank brick carpark wall to life, with a design celebrating our community and its connection with Veterans, showcasing the values we all hold close to our hearts.
Envisioned by Gympie RSL Group Manager Martin Muller, the mural was designed and painted by Angel Goodfellow from Heart & Soul Sisters.
This project would not have been possible without the dedication and support of many.
Gympie RSL would like to sincerely thank Inspiration Paints Gympie for donating the paint; Neal’s Engineering Solutions for designing, painting & installing the giant steel frame; Martin, Jessica, Erin, and all the staff & volunteers within our Veteran Centre for their support; the Gympie RSL Board of Directors; Veteran & Community artists involved including Jasen, Katie, Sue, Deb, Maria, Isabella, Adrian; and Veteran researchers Muzzy, Doug & Graham.
We hope members and guests enjoy this new feature as you arrive to our car park.

$1,500 Donated to Gympie Military Museum’s Recovery
Gympie RSL proudly announces its donation of $1,500 to assist the Gympie Military Museum in recovering from the 2022 flood. These funds will be allocated towards acquiring new display cabinets, which will enhance the museum’s ability to showcase historical artifacts and educate visitors.
The donation, raised through Gympie RSL’s weekly Community Raffles, underscores the club’s commitment to preserving Australia’s military history and its strong ties to the Gympie community.
“We are thrilled to support the Gympie Military Museum in its recovery efforts,” said Martin Muller, Group Manager of Gympie RSL. “This donation is a testament to our community’s spirit and the importance we place on preserving our military heritage.”
The Gympie Military Museum, an integral part of the community, suffered significant damage during the flood. Gympie RSL’s donation will aid in restoring the museum’s facilities and ensuring it continues to serve as an educational resource for future generations.

Donation to Gympie Regional Homelessness Assistance Association
Gympie RSL is delighted to share that over the past two months, it has raised $8,500 in support of the Gympie Regional Homelessness Assistance Association. This significant achievement was made possible through the club’s ongoing raffle initiatives, with 100% of the proceeds from every Friday and Saturday night raffle, as well as special raffles like Australia Day and Valentine’s Day, dedicated to the cause.
Marlene Owen, a key figure within the association, has been actively involved in addressing homelessness in the Gympie region. She was recently pictured alongside some of Gympie RSL’s team members.
