Connections Looking Through the Lens – Mural
Gympie RSL has unveiled a new 24-metre-long mural on Sunday 18th August, coinciding with Vietnam Veteran’s Day commemorations.
Titled ‘Connections – Looking through the Lens’, the new installation has brought the previously blank brick carpark wall to life, with a design celebrating our community and its connection with Veterans, showcasing the values we all hold close to our hearts.
Envisioned by Gympie RSL Group Manager Martin Muller, the mural was designed and painted by Angel Goodfellow from Heart & Soul Sisters.
This project would not have been possible without the dedication and support of many.
Gympie RSL would like to sincerely thank Inspiration Paints Gympie for donating the paint; Neal’s Engineering Solutions for designing, painting & installing the giant steel frame; Martin, Jessica, Erin, and all the staff & volunteers within our Veteran Centre for their support; the Gympie RSL Board of Directors; Veteran & Community artists involved including Jasen, Katie, Sue, Deb, Maria, Isabella, Adrian; and Veteran researchers Muzzy, Doug & Graham.
We hope members and guests enjoy this new feature as you arrive to our car park.

$1,500 Donated to Gympie Military Museum’s Recovery

Gympie RSL is excited to announce a $1,500 donation to assist the Gympie Military Museum in recovering from the 2022 flood. This donation will help purchase new display cabinets, improving the museum’s ability to showcase historical artifacts and engage visitors.
Supporting History and Community
The Gympie Military Museum has been a key part of the region for years. It preserves the stories, artifacts, and contributions of Australian service members. The flood in 2022 caused significant damage, affecting the museum’s exhibits and infrastructure. Since then, the museum has been working hard to rebuild, relying on community support to restore its displays and facilities.
Gympie RSL raised the funds through its weekly Community Raffles. This initiative invites members and visitors to contribute to local causes while enjoying a fun, social event. It highlights the club’s strong ties to the Gympie community and its commitment to preserving Australian military history.
A Commitment to Preserving Military History
Gympie RSL Group Manager Martin Muller stressed the importance of supporting institutions like the Gympie Military Museum.
“We are thrilled to support the museum’s recovery efforts,” said Mr. Muller. “This donation shows our community’s spirit and our commitment to preserving military heritage.”
Military museums play a vital role in educating future generations. The new display cabinets will securely display artifacts, documents, and memorabilia. These items will be protected for many years, ensuring the museum can continue to educate visitors.
The Importance of Community Support
The Gympie Military Museum depends on the generosity of the local community. Organizations like Gympie RSL have been key to helping the museum recover. Every donation, no matter the size, helps the museum continue its mission.
This donation is just one example of Gympie RSL’s ongoing commitment to the local community. The club supports local causes through various programs, sponsorships, and fundraising events.

This incredible achievement has been made possible through the club’s ongoing raffle initiatives, which have become a staple in supporting local causes.
How the Funds Were Raised

With the $8,500 raised, the association will be able to continue its important work and extend its reach to those who need help the most.
