Gympie RSL Sub Branch Leadership Team
The Gympie RSL Sub Branch Board of Directors brings together extensive corporate and military expertise to lead the organisation’s strategic direction. The Board is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive corporate governance framework that upholds the principles of accountability, authority, stewardship, leadership, strategic guidance, and organisational oversight.
Adel Amin – President
Mr. Adel Amin dedicated 38 years to the Australian Army, serving in key operational roles in Kuwait and Iraq. His military career spanned logistics, quartermaster responsibilities, and linguistics, providing him with extensive experience in governance, training, and management.
Following his military service, Mr. Amin held prominent civilian roles, including NSW State Heritage Manager and RSL Pensions Officer. He has also been actively involved in welfare initiatives and has served on the boards of the Tewantin Noosa RSL Sub Branch and, currently, the Gympie RSL Sub Branch.
Lindsay Francis – Deputy President
Mr. Lindsay Francis, a lifelong Gympie resident, began his career in banking before being called up for National Service, during which he served in Vietnam as a driver on Armoured Personnel Carriers. Following his service, he spent the majority of his career in the rural and retail sectors of primary industry, retiring in 2006. A long-standing and dedicated member of the Gympie RSL Sub Branch, Lindsay has contributed both during the 1970s and following his retirement. He played a key role in the successful merger and expansion of the club.
Robyn Murtagh – Secretary
Mrs. Robyn Murtagh served 37 years in the Permanent Air Force and continues to serve as a Reserve Wing Commander, working remotely from her home in Victory Heights. Her Air Force career has focused on human resources and workforce management, including operational service in Afghanistan in 2019.
Outside the military, Robyn has co-managed several small businesses with her husband, Shane, who now enjoys life on their semi-rural property. She joined the Gympie RSL Board shortly after moving to Gympie and was appointed Secretary in April 2024.
Garry Casey, AM – Director
Mr. Garry Casey, AM, is a Vietnam veteran who served with the 2CAV and 3CAV Regiments. Throughout his career in the NT Police and NT Fire and Rescue, Garry has been a committed contributor to community service and has held positions in numerous associations, clubs, and committees.
In addition to serving as a Director on the Gympie RSL Sub Branch Board, he is President of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia, Gympie. Garry was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2020 in recognition of his significant service to the community through emergency response organisations.
Jan Collins – Director
Mrs. Jan Collins is a highly dedicated and passionate member of the Gympie RSL Sub Branch Management Committee, serving as a valued non-league community representative on the Board. She has been an integral part of the Board since the club’s amalgamation in 2019 and maintains a long-standing connection with the RSL. Married to a Vietnam veteran, Jan is deeply committed to championing the welfare of veterans and their families. Her tireless advocacy and hands-on support have made a meaningful impact on the local veteran community, reflecting her unwavering dedication to those who have served.
Adrian Kosch – Director
Mr. Adrian Kosch served in the Australian Regular Army for 25 years, followed by an additional four years in the Reserves, attaining the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2. His distinguished military career included operational deployments to Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Indonesia (2004 tsunami), and Iraq.
Following his military service, Adrian has continued to support veterans through roles with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and currently serves with RSL Queensland as the QLD/NT Compensation Advocate Training Officer, providing guidance and advocacy for those who have served.
