The Gympie region will come alive with the sound of engines when the Australian Rally Championship arrives from Friday 17 April to Sunday 19 April 2026. As the opening round of the 2026 season, the event will bring Australia’s top rally drivers and co-drivers to the region to compete for early championship points across a series of demanding gravel stages. Known as one of the country’s premier rally locations, Gympie’s fast and technical forestry roads will provide the perfect backdrop as crews push their high-performance machines to the limit.
Adding to the excitement, the official rally finish line will be located beside the Gympie Veteran Centre on Monkland Street, placing the dramatic final moments of the rally right in the heart of Gympie and giving spectators the chance to witness the championship action up close. As a Major Sponsor of the event, Gympie RSL will also be operating a licensed bar right near the finish line of the Street Stage, offering one of the best vantage points to catch all the action while enjoying an ice-cold drink.
Wheels on Mary Returns
Adding to the excitement, the hugely popular Velmec Automotive Wheels on Mary will return to the Gympie CBD on Friday and Saturday.
Mary Street will transform into a motorsport showcase, featuring rally cars, car displays, entertainment, and the thrilling street stage that brings rally action right into the heart of town. It’s an incredible opportunity for fans to see the vehicles and teams up close while enjoying the festival atmosphere.
