The motorised scooter of late member, Jack Waldock, is now making a positive impact for the community.
The cherished scooter was generously donated to Gympie RSL by the Waldock family and is currently on loan to a member of our Kilkivan Chapter.
The scooter is being used to provide better care for his mother, offering her enhanced mobility and independence.
Jack Waldock, a beloved member of our community, relied on this scooter when driving a car became impractical.
It provided him with the freedom and mobility he needed during a challenging time.
Now, its providing the same freedom to others. The transition of Jack’s scooter from one supportive role to another is a poignant reminder of the enduring spirit of our community and the legacy of those who have touched our lives.
We are deeply grateful to the Waldock family for their thoughtful donation and for enabling this wonderful scooter to continue helping the community.
Gympie RSL has unveiled a new 24-metre-long mural on Sunday 18th August, coinciding with Vietnam Veteran’s Day commemorations.
Titled ‘Connections – Looking through the Lens’, the new installation has brought the previously blank brick carpark wall to life, with a design celebrating our community and its connection with Veterans, showcasing the values we all hold close to our hearts.
Envisioned by Gympie RSL Group Manager Martin Muller, the mural was designed and painted by Angel Goodfellow from Heart & Soul Sisters.
This project would not have been possible without the dedication and support of many.
Gympie RSL would like to sincerely thank Inspiration Paints Gympie for donating the paint; Neal’s Engineering Solutions for designing, painting & installing the giant steel frame; Martin, Jessica, Erin, and all the staff & volunteers within our Veteran Centre for their support; the Gympie RSL Board of Directors; Veteran & Community artists involved including Jasen, Katie, Sue, Deb, Maria, Isabella, Adrian; and Veteran researchers Muzzy, Doug & Graham.
We hope members and guests enjoy this new feature as you arrive to our car park.
I am thrilled to present the inaugural edition of our Gympie RSL Quarterly Magazine!
This new publication is designed to keep you connected with the heart and soul of our RSL community, celebrating our achievements and keeping you informed about the exciting events ahead.
First and foremost, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our recent Masked Ball. It was an enchanting evening, filled with elegance and camaraderie.
Your generous support was truly inspiring, and I’m proud to announce that we raised $30,000 for veteran welfare. This will go a long way in providing crucial support and services to those who have given so much for our country.
Spring is here and it’s a season packed with opportunities to celebrate, connect, and reflect. We kick off with Father’s Day on 1st September – a joyful occasion to honour the dads who make a difference in our lives. It’s the perfect time to show appreciation and strengthen family bonds with heartfelt gestures and shared moments.
Mark your calendars for 21st September when the Gympie RSL Crystal Vase Race Day takes centre stage at the Gympie Turf Club. This lively event is not just about the thrill of horse racing; it’s a celebration of community spirit and camaraderie. Enjoy the excitement of the races and make the most of a fantastic day out with friends and neighbours on the grassed area beside the track.
As spring draws to a close, we’ll observe Remembrance Day on 11th November. This meaningful day is dedicated to honouring the brave individuals who have served in the armed forces. With commemorative ceremonies and moments of reflection, it’s a time to pay tribute to their sacrifices and celebrate the enduring values of peace and freedom.
Let’s embrace each occasion with gratitude as we come together to celebrate life and honour our past.
