To celebrate Veterans’ Health Week (13–20 October), Gympie RSL Sub Branch is hosting a month-long series of events under the theme “Keep Connected.” This initiative highlights the importance of social connections for veterans and their families, providing valuable opportunities for bonding, networking, and engagement.
What is Veterans’ Health Week?
Veterans’ Health Week is an annual event dedicated to supporting the well-being of Australian veterans and their families. Each year, a different theme promotes various aspects of physical, mental, and social health. This year’s theme, “Keep Connected,” emphasizes the power of relationships, encouraging veterans to engage with their communities.
Exciting Events Throughout the Month
📌 Sourdough Starter Party
Kick off the month with a hands-on workshop where veterans can learn the art of sourdough baking. This event fosters social interaction and a new skill that can be enjoyed at home.
🎭 Trip to Wicked the Musical
For those who love cultural experiences, a group trip to QPAC in Brisbane offers a chance to see the spectacular Wicked the Musical. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow veterans and enjoy an evening of entertainment.
🎣 Noosa River Fishing Charter
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a relaxing day on the water with the Noosa River Fishing Charter. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just looking for a peaceful getaway, this event is perfect for unwinding and socializing.
🎬 Community Movie Night in the Park
Families are invited to a fun-filled evening under the stars with a screening of the newly released Wonka movie. The event will also feature:

This unique event features a dog training session, including flyball and agility demonstrations. Bring your furry friend along and learn some new training techniques while connecting with fellow veterans.
🚌 Bus Trip to Rainbow Beach
A collaborative event with local RSL sub-branches, this scenic trip includes a day out at Rainbow Beach, capped off with lunch at the Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
☕ Female Veterans Coffee & Catch-Up
Female veterans are invited to a supportive networking session designed for connection and camaraderie. This is a great space to share experiences, make new friends, and enjoy a relaxed coffee break.
